Whiplash injuries treated with Sequim chiropractor.jpgWhiplash can be a sneaky injury, due to the varied damage it can cause to your muscles, ligaments, and tendons, as well as its ability to result in damage without any pain. Sequim Chiropractic Clinic has seen cases where whiplash damage was done but people did not seek treatment due to the lack of pain, which can easily result to more severe damage down the line.

Our Sequim chiropractor can diagnose and treat whiplash injuries to alleviate any pain and correct damage at its earliest stages before greater issues develop. A chiropractic evaluation is important after any auto injury during which whiplash may have occurred.

Chiropractic Treatments Alleviate Whiplash Neck Pain and Back Pain

Whiplash is an injury caused by a sudden and rapid jolt to the neck. The jolt often leads to neck pain, back pain, and damage to the tendons, ligaments and muscles in and surrounding the neck area.  Such a sudden and rapid jolt can also cause damage or disruption to your joints and nervous system, with the extent of the damage dependent on the speed and amount of force behind the jolt.

The damage and pain from whiplash can be due to a number of injuries related to sudden jolt. Damage to your facet joints and spinal discs are also a possibility, as are headaches and temporomandibular joint dysfunction, or TMJ. Signs of the latter often include pain and noises emanating from your jaw when you move it. Pain in the lower back can be another symptom, due to the way the violent thrust compresses the lower vertebrae.

Our chiropractic treatments for whiplash include spinal manipulation, also called adjustments, massage therapy, and rehabilitative exercises, all of which can be part of a restorative wellness plan. Our spinal adjustments realign the spine and work to improve mobility while massage increases blood circulation and promotes healing. Rehabilitative exercises help restore movement and strength to the damaged areas.
